Abstract | The paper reviews psychological research in, and about, Hong Kong, surveying the main directions of this research over the past few decades, the areas of current interest, and research areas that have had a significant impact either locally or upon the international scene. It primarily adopts a quantitative analysis of the trends in the published literature, revealing an almost exponential increase in the number of papers over the years. It is interested to note that there has been a significant decline in the percentage of papers in the area of social psychology in recent years, while a remarkable increase in research in psychometrics over the last ten years can be seen. Publications in clinically related areas continue to be by far the most numerous overall. |
