| Abstract | The total silk cocoon production in 1994 was far below the national silk reeling capacity. The Ministry of Agriculture has therefore launched a preliminary plan to increase the mulberry plantation area to ensure a cocoon production of 950,000 tonnes by the year 2000 and 1.3 million tonnes in 2010. |
