Is Part OfTextile Asia : the Asian textile & apparel monthly ; v.28, no.1, Jan 1997, p.71.
AbstractAt the national silk cocoon conference in November 1996 the spring cocoon production was reported down by 32.3%, and in the major cocoon producing provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shandong and Anhui the summer cocoon production down by 54.5%. The autumn cocoon harvest was expected to decline by 45.8%. In this situation some experts predict the production of raw silk China may soon go the way of production in Japan and South Korea, towards extinction.
