| Abstract | Xinyi county in the major cocoon producing region of Jiangsu province in China is reported to be having difficulty in selling its cocoon output, even though it is also an important silk textile producing district. Its 1995 total output of dried cocoons is estimated at 3,000 tonnes, including 900 tonnes of spring cocoons. If all the silk textile plants were working full speed over 400 tonnes would be consumed, leaving a surplus of 500 tonnes awaiting buyers. |
