AbstractDenise Yue, Hong Kong's Secretary for Trade & Industry, explains in the article about Hong Kong's position. How to achieve meaningful integration of textile quotas in the next seven and three-quarter years was discussed intensively, as well as the imposition of additional import measures by the United States (US) on Hong Kong and the fact that the European Union (EU) is dragging its heels on integration. The differing policies of China and Hong Kong on the question of Turkish quota quota restrictions are an example, said Miss Yue, of how Hong Kong will continue to decide its own trade policy after July 1997 under the "one country, two systems" principle. She then commented on the pressing issue of anti-dumping and its direct and indirect effects on Hong Kong.
