| Abstract | On 4 May 1995 the United States (US) government announced that the textile export quota allocated to China will be cut by 1.83 million dozen garments on the ground that China is again exporting textile goods via Hong Kong, bypassing the import quota regulation. The Ministry of Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation protested against such measure and emphasised that if the US took such unilateral action, China would retaliate. |
