| Abstract | Most secondary 1 to 3 pupils in Hong Kong spend about 10-12 percent of their curriculum time with the subject Science which advocates an experimental and inquiry approach. However, because of various reasons, not many schools actually conduct assessment to see how well pupils really acquire the expected practical skills and the spirit of inquire. The paper presents an example of how arrangements are made to conduct practical assessment for pupils in S1 to S3 under various constraints of the present school setting. The performance of pupils is analyzed and its implications for science teaching discussed. |
