| Abstract | Mantoux test, an intradermal injection of standardized tuberculin solution, 1-2 tuberculin unit (TU) of detergent-treated purified protein derivative (PPD-RT 23) extracted from a concentrated filtrate of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is a simple test for evidence of tuberculosis infection. Its interpretation is complicated by previous Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination and repeated tests with tuberculin. Mantoux test result must be interpreted in the light of clinical findings. |
