Abstract | MITI announced on November 6, 1996, that China had agreed "voluntarily" to limit its shipments to Japan of poplin broad-cloth, the cotton material used in making dress shirts, to around 300 million metres a year by 1999. Japan therefore would not seek to impose its own import restrictions on the Chinese cloth through the World Trade Organisation (WTO). |
