Abstract | Based upon the author's experiences of nurse education in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, and also as a member of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centres of Nursing Network, the article explores briefly the challenges facing nurse education, if nurses are to be pro-active in improving the health care of the people of different nations and the quality of nursing care delivered. Also, it features the interplay of context and culture in influencing the provision of relevant nurse education, and the potential for conflict between the two, particularly in relation to curriculum processes. Finally, it highlights the costs, the issues in resourcing the provision of an appropriate education for nurses and midwives. |
