AbstractOn January 1, 1998, quotas on imports of both knit and woven babies' apparel into United States (US) will be eliminated, opening the market to far greater competition. In 1996, Hong Kong remained the US's second largest supplier of knit babies' apparel with sales of $88.9 million, almost identical to 1995 sales. A number of other Asian suppliers, including China, had stable or slightly higher 1996 shipments, but overall Asian market share declined.
