Abstract | During the first half of 1996, cotton yarn output showed a surplus of over 1.7 million bales in China. In general, surplus output occurs in cotton-producing provinces, and under-production in cotton-consuming regions. Jiangsu, Shandong, Hubei, Xinjiang, Henan, Anhui and Zhejiang are all surplus producers. The projected annual total shows a surplus of 2,443,100 bales, or output at 109.8 percent of the annual target. |
