| Abstract | Since the beginning of the reform and opening up in 1978, China's telecommunications industry has undergone amazing development. At present, a large amount of fiber-optic cable is used in China's long-haul trunks of different levels, and the great majority of the inter-exchange trunks in medium- and large-sized cities have already adopted fiber-optic cable. However, there is still quite a lot of copper cable used for subscriber loops, which is hard to meet the demand for broadband services. This article advances some proposals as to the evolution of existing subscriber line networks towards fiber-optic cable networks. |
