Abstract | Asian banks have benefited from operating in the fastest growing region in the world. More recently, however, growth in some economies in the region has slowed. Some of the challenges being faced by Asian banks are global integration of financial markets, financial liberalisation and increased competition, maintenance of asset quality, and innovation and technological change. In responding to these challeges, senior management of banks have the main responsibility to ensure that effective systems of internal governance are in place to identify and manage the risks to which they are exposed. |
