Abstract | A new crop of CD-ROM based planting design and garden design related software has arrived on the market. While they are relatively crude for the professional practitioner, they begin to shed promising light on the future streamlining of learning, design, and presentation of planting schemes as well as design visualization. This article focuses on a number of mass-marketed CD-ROM based multimedia planting design software, analyzing their hardware requirements, capabilities and limitations. Based on the findings, the development of a multimedia-based computer planting design database system that may benefit both educators and practitioners in Hong Kong appears to be a real possibility. |
