Abstract | For many decades, Hong Kong's coastal resources have been used and abused as the Territory rapidly developed to become the dynamic place. Every form of life has been collected from the seas and shallow waters and the once-beautiful, natural coastline is gradually being engineered into perfectly designed, mathematical shapes. In the world, Hong Kong is a body of water more subject to the threats of urbanisation, reclamation, over-fishing and of course, marine pollution. As World Widlife Fund Hong Kong's plans are being made, legislation to establish Marine Protected Areas in Hong Kong are in the final stages. By setting these areas aside they can ensure the preservation of habitats, communities and ecosystems. The most important people are the next generation. If they are taught the importance of marine conservation, then the future is already taken care of. |
