Abstract | Typhoons, landslides, hillfires and floods are unfortunately part of life in Hong Kong. And when Mother Nature really decides to wreak havoc, emergency services are run off their feet saving life and protecting property. It is at times like these that the Government Secretariat activates a co-ordinated emergency response to provide Government officials and the public with an overall picture - and advice on how to stay safe. Up until 1 July 1996, this task was handled by the Government Secretariat Emergency Co-ordination Centre (GSECC). |
