Abstract | Stockbrokers J.M. Sassoon & Co have been in the Far East since 1928. Headquartered in Singapore, the house expanded slowly and only really kicked off in the 1960s and 70s in terms of its number of partners and dealers. Sassoon maintains a small China desk in Hong Kong, but in 1994 the company went back to Hankou Road, Shanghai, where its staff of 11 track B and H shares and China-related Hong Kong shares. Now, in a conscientious bid to expand the profile of the house, Sassoon has launched a series of China seminars. The opener focused on the People's Republic of China power sector, a lottery for foreign investors in China but heavily sought after on account of the potential rates of return. |
