AbstractAgainst this telecommunications backdrop, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) began business in November 1991. Telecommunications research is currently supported by the Hongkong Telecom Institute of Information Technology, founded by a 100-million-dollar grant from Hongkong Telecom Foundation, and several other telecommunications companies. At HKUST, a group of about ten faculty members are conducting research on methods to support reliable wireless access, including propagation environment characterization, radio resource management, high-speed transmission techniques and wireless integrated wireless access, including propagation environment characterization, radio resource mement, high-speed transmission techniques and wireless integrated circuits. This paper presents some sample research activities being conducted at HKUST.
