Abstract | 1995 was a year with continued and slow economic growth in Macao. According to the official forecast, the real economic growth rate for the whole year was 4.5% and the inflation rate (excluding housing rental) was over 8%. The economy grew mainly from an improved government's public spending and exports of goods. However, the main factors adversely affecting the economy in 1994 remained unchanged in 1995. Thus the overall economy was still in a difficult position. Looking forward to 1996, the author expects that uncertain factors relating to the economy may improve and the economy will maintain a moderate growth. |
