| Abstract | In view of the severe nature and sequelae of poliomyelitis the World Health Organization (WHO) adopted, in May 1988, the goal of global eradication of poliomyelitis by the year 2000. The Western Pacific Region, one of the six regions of WHO, has established for itself a regional target of eradication of poliomyetlitis by 1995. Hong Kong, as an area in this region, has already achieved the target and the eradication strategies are presented in this article. |
