Abstract | The article is the part two of the "Teacher education at Hong Kong University" which appeared in Curriculum Forum's May 1998 issue. It attempts to investigate teacher education at The University of Hong Kong. Also, the overarching concern is with purposes and processes, rather than merely with dates and institutional events. An effort is made to operate a consistent and reader-friendly form of periodization, and the particular form adopted may provoke thoughts about western influences or globalization. The analytical emphasis in the article is on structure, students, staff, and curricular concerns, including the role and status of teaching practice, the nature of formal courses, and the existence and type of co- and/or extra-curricular activities. |
