| Abstract | Following the Chinese tradition, preventive drug education seeks to prohibit the use of drugs or to educate the public to prohibit the use of poisonous substances. This may have reduced the potential of preventive education. Some lessons can be learnt from western experiences, which can expand the horizon and can provide a more comprehensive framework for future consideration. The article is a summary translation of the speech on this issue presented in Mandarin by Spencer So during the annual conference of the National China Association of Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment held in Xian in September, 1998. |
