| Abstract | In the 1970s in Hong Kong, it was good form to affirm that young Chinese who risked their lives secretly swimming over to the British colony were acting out of pure naivete. It was said that they were dreaming of mythical city and thought that the streets of Hong Kong were paved with gold. However, according to a survey carried out in 1993 among 110 families of recent immigrants, their impression of Hong Kong before and after coming has changed. |
