| Abstract | Interferons are proteins secreted by cells in response to viral and other stimuli. They have antiproliferative and immunomodulatory effects. Alpha-interferon is currently the only approved antiviral agent for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. The article features the short-term and long-term benefits of interferon treatment on Chinese and Western patients, as well as the way to tell patients about Alpha-interferon treatment. |
