Article TitleReview and outlook of Hong Kong's clothing exports.
Is Part OfTrade watch ; Apr 1998, p.1-12, +2p., illus.
AbstractHong Kong's exports of clothing grew faster by 5% in 1997 amid healthy growth in most major world markets except Japan and Germany. The impact of the Asian currency crisis on Hong Kong's clothing industry is contained. In any event, competition from indigenous Chinese enterprises, other Asian suppliers as well as new competitors from Latin America and Eastern Europe has been intense. The trend of casualisation will continue, and clothes that look easy, relaxed and comfortable are favoured. The outlook of clothing exports remains favourable in 1998.
