Abstract | Hong Kong's total exports of toys and games recorded only a moderate 5% growth in 1996 after strong performance in recent years. Market-wise, as the United States economy is growing steadily and blockbuster movies are coming up, exports to the United States may grow at a faster pace. For the EU market, traditional items are expected to be popular, with stronger performance in the United Kingdom. Elsewhere, the Japanese market is likely to remain good, given a sustained recovery in its economy, whereas the South-east Asian countries are considered as new markets of good potential as the income level continues to rise. |
