| Abstract | Although by no means the only bone of contention at the World Trade Organisation (WTO)'s Singapore Ministerial Meeting to be held on December 9-13, 1996, by mid-November textiles loomed more and more among the most difficult subjects for discussion, and the worsening relations between the United States (US) and China on the same issue appeared to add oil to the fire. The article features the North-South quarrel over the issues as textiles, China, labour rights, trade and investment and other subjects where there is a massive divergence of views. |
