| Abstract | An official of Taiwan's Board of Foreign Trade (BOFT) said the board believes that Taiwan's textile industry can overcome setbacks suffered in recent years to regain competitiveness in international markets. Among a growing number of obstacles that contributed to Taiwan's producers becoming less competitive in the '90s, he said, were the proliferation of low-cost competition from textile makers in Eastern Europe and China and the emergence of regional economic blocs which hinder imports to their member countries. |
