Article Title | Silk centre salvaged. |
Is Part Of | Textile Asia : the Asian textile & apparel monthly ; v.27, no.10, Oct 1996, p.88-89. |
Abstract | The article features Sichuan province, a most important silk textile production centre, has since 1994 suffered unprecedented setbacks, due to chaotic pricing of silk cocoons, low quality of cocoons harvested, accumulating stockpiles of raw silk, shortage of funds, declining output and profits, and increase of loss-making plants. The basic reasons are described as over-rapid expansion, over-extension and indiscriminate fulfilment of output targets. |
