| Abstract | Assets of Asia's private-client market in 1995 were estimated at US$600 billion. Impressed by this figure and confident that 30 per cent year-on-year asset growth was eminently achievable, new banks flocked to the region to join the legion of already entrenched institutions. By the middle of 1998, there were more than 70 houses in Asia offering private-banking services of varying kinds. |
