AbstractIn 1995, Hong Kong Government introduced the Equal Opportunities. The proposed legislation was designed to ensure that all in Hong Kong enjoyed the same rights and opportunities in life and that none was denied any of the rights exercised by others. The objective of the article is to examine whether those with a homosexual or lesbian orientation were deprived of any of the rights accorded to their more "normal" peers. Since there are many kinds of sexual orientations, the study focuses on only one sexual orientation in Hong Kong: homosexuality (including lesbianism). One of the major goals of the study is to assess the degree to which homosexuals of both sexes are subject to discrimination.
