| Abstract | Kayser Sung, Vice-President of the Hong Kong Economic Association, joined a 15-member delegation of the Association on a five-day visit to Beijing at the end of March 1997. Meetings were held with officials of the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) and of Finance, of the People's Bank of China and of the State Council's Office of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs. Topics discussed include the World Trade Organization (WTO), trade between China and Taiwan and between China and Hong Kong, foreign investment in China and the preferential treatment granted to the investors, China's emphasis on high tech projects, trade policy, textile quotas, transshipment and related issues.
