| Abstract | Guangdong Provincial Posts and Telecommunications Administration (PTA) embarked on preparations in 1995 for the construction of a provincial public Internet network -- Chinanet-GD -- which extended on October 1st, 1995, to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, and covered a total of seven nodes at the end of 1995 to provide Internet access services to subscribers throughout the province. The network structure, its capacity and technical features, services provided, and future development are described in the article. |
