Abstract | Changes in retail management in the jewellery industry have been taking place in the few years before 1997 in Asia, particularly in Hong Kong. Companies retailing jewellery, a consumer product, have much to learn from the experience and expertise developed in the retailing of other consumer goods. A few jewellery retailers are aware of the urgent need to improve management and initiate changes. Others are following the example of competitors and employ similar retailing techniques.
