AbstractAt their meeting in Hong Kong during the handover, Chinese Foreign Minister Qian Qichen and his United States counterpart Madeleine Albright tentatively set 28 October 1997 as the date President Jiang Zemin would arrive in Washington for his long-anticipated summit meeting with President Bill Clinton. Jiang has told top Chinese officials to find ways of ensuring that the summit is a success.
