| Abstract | Asia as a whole will continue to sustain strong growth. Gross Domestic Product in the countries discussed below will expand by an average of 7% in 1997. Inflation in some economies will come in below that. However in Indonesia and the Philippines consumer price increases will average 7.5 per year. China and Vietnam will have to face inflation rates of 10% and 12% respectively while in Myanmar prices are forecast to shoot up by 27.3%. |
