| Abstract | The decision by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress to repeal or amend a number of local ordinances is premised on an alleged inconsistency between these laws and the Basic Law. This comment is based on the argument that the appropriate yardsticks for evaluating matters arising from Hong Kong's transition from British to Chinese rule are the relevant international legal norms. |
