Abstract | In Asia, the business of insurance is a relatively new one, despite the fact that companies such as Prudential of the United Kingdom have been operating in the region for more than 70 years. On average, the penetration rate in Asia for life insurance take-up barely reaches 10 per cent outside established markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan - in the Land of the Rising Sun, for example, the penetration rate is more than 90 per cent. |
