| Abstract | The construction of the Information Superhighway can be speeded up if the telephone lines can be used to carry high-speed information. But the existing subscriber lines are based on copper wires which are only suitable for voice and low-speed information, and cannot transmit high-speed information. This article looks at the introduction of new technologies into the existing copper-based subscribers lines. The video services expected to be widely welcomed by average customers are also described. |
