| Abstract | It has come to be commonly recognized that China must keep up with the development of the age and have an information superhighway of our own formed according to the condition and requirement of our country, and it is time now to plan and construct the national information infrastructure (NII). In this article, the author provides some discussion on promoting information superhighway in China and gives a brief account of the facilities currently in operation and widely known that make up a part of the NII to prepare for the information superhighway; which signifies that the NII will need to have both the basic networks built chiefly of optical cables as well as advanced radio systems for the transmission of the great variety of information services. |
