| Abstract | The proposal to construct a Trans-Asia-Europe overland optical cable trunk system was first made by the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications of China, and when it comes into being, it will be the world's longest terrestrial cable system to connect from Shanghai in China to Frankfurt in Germany, measuring some 17,000 kilometers in total length and following generally a route of the ancient "Silk Road." The development of this system is introduced in this article. |
