| Abstract | CHINASAT is one of the sponsors and shareholders of the AsiaSat Corporation based on Hong Kong and the general agent of the AsiaSat for the operation of China's domestic services provided by the AsiaSat satellite system. Recently, CHINASAT made a predictive calculation for transponders required by China's civil satellite communications till the year 2000, i.e. transponders required by the P & T public services, radio and television broadcasting, specialized services, etc. and the result shows that about 150 transponder units, each has 36 mega hertz bandwidth, will be required. The present situation and the future development of China's satellite communications are discussed in this article. |
