| Abstract | In March 1995, the State Planning Commission and the State Commission of Science and Technology issued a circular to kick off a nationwide information resources survey. As of November 1995, 1,562 questionnaires on databases and 220 questionnaires on electronic information networks were returned. These questionnaires were returned by 64 departments of the State Council and 27 provinces, autonomous regions and cities under the direct jurisdiction of the central government. In 1996, the government is working on the industrial policy regarding telecom and electronics sectors. Special plan on information industry is also under consideration. Furthermore, concerned deparments are studying policies and statutes to promote the healthy development of an information market. |
