| Abstract | Guangdong's cross-bank ATM (automatic teller machine) network has witnessed fast growth since commencement of operation in 1995. In 1996, it has become a Golden Card project with the largest coverage in the country. Participation of 46 banks in Hong Kong turned the ATM network in Guangdong the largest financial network in China. The Shenzhen Banking Network and the Credit Card Network in Shanghai are applying for inter-connection with the Guangdong banking network. With negotiations under way, extension of Guangdong's ATM network to Shenzhen and Shanghai is not far off. |
