| Abstract | The Eighth Five-Year Plan period (1991-1995) witnessed the fast growth of mobile phone service in China. Coverage of public mobile phone networks extended from a few large- and medium-sized cities to most counties and some townships in the country. Mobile phone subscribers increased from 18,000 in 1990 to the current 3.62 million. Technological level of mobile phone networks has also undergone continuous improvement. In January 1995, A and B networks of analog mobile phone system in China achieved their respective nationwide inter-connection and the two networks were inter-connected at a later stage. |
