| Abstract | Computer technology has found increasingly wider application in telecommunications and the voice mail is a new service that results from the use of the microcomputer in conjunction with the ubiquitous telephone to provide various intelligent services for the convenience of users. After studying the systems presently in use in other countries, Shanghai Telephone Administration was decided to import the equipment from the Octel Company of America, and the service was formally opened as a part of the Audiotex Information Service as from 18 June 1993. |
