| Abstract | In 1995, 84.78 million international telephone calls were made by way of Shanghai, making it the largest international telecom gateway of China. China has three international gateways located in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. International calls of the whole country must be made by way of the three gateways. In addition to local areas, Shanghai is responsible for connecting international calls made in Central and Southeast China. |
