| Abstract | In 1995, China has harvested the last booming telecom year during its Eighth Five-Year Plan period (1991-1995). Having made a spurt towards accomplishing all of its projected goals, the MPT has succeeded in further accomplishing much more than planned. Official statistics show that, the MPT had already reached its major portion of the Eighth Five-Year projections by the end of 1994. In fact, to meet the challenges of a new competitive market, the MPT has advanced the major targets previously set up in the Ninth Five-Plan (1996-2000) by the end of 1995. Compared with its accomplishment during the Seventh Five-Year Plan period (1986-1990), the MPT's recent telecom achievement is astonishing. The statistics on China's telecom achievement during the 8th Five-Year Plan by year end of 1995 and China's paging subscription expansion from 1985 to 1995 are provided in this article. |
