Abstractwhile the debate in Hong Kong continues pondering the potential value of a film commission for the local industry, in Ireland, filmakers have found hands-on government support for the industry, with quite amazing results. Breveheart, the Oscar winning film with a HK$600 million budget and starring Mel Gibson, was poached form under the noses of its intended Scottish and English locations by the Irish who have made their goal clear - to become Europe's major English-language film centre.
